Step 5: Buff

Buff briskly with the flannel cloth.  The edges of the letters and numbers may catch
on the cloth, but folding the cloth will make it easier.  This will take some elbow
grease, but it is worth it.

The completed job should leave the surface with a deep shine.

The wax will continue to harden for 24 hours.  Buffing again the next day with the
flannel cloth, will give an even better shine.  This is evidence that the wax is hard
and slick, making it more able to stand up to the weather.
