Mel Lawson Cowboy on Horseback Sculpture
Front leg was broken. It had been pinned (steel pin, but too short) and
set with what seemed like a silicone glue.

I removed the pin, cleaned up the silicone glue, redrilled & threaded a steel
bolt into the leg (using epoxy),
drilled and epoxied the other section of threaded bolt into the main part of the
leg. After the epoxy cured,
I touched up the surface details and colored the repaired area to match the
original. NOTE: I opted to
use epoxy because I wasn't sure the alloy of this piece would solder well and
because the heat from the
soldering operation would have harmed the original patina. Combined with
steel pins of proper length,
this kind of repair is as strong as if it had been soldered.
