Moreau Sculpture/Lamp Restoration
This page features before and after illustrations of complete restoration of a signed Moreau
sculpture/lamp. Several
parts had been broken off but, fortunately, the
pieces were not lost.
They were soldered back in place and resculpted,
eliminating distortion caused by the
damaging event.
The right arm, holding the light fixture, had been previously repaired
by epoxying a broom stick
in it. Rewiring was
impossible without first rebreaking the arm and
repairing the "repair."
Provision was made for electrical wire to pass
through to the light fixture again; allowing it to
serve its original function.
This piece had been left outside on the ground,
exposed to the elements, which severely damaged
its finish making it
necessary
to repatinate its entire surface.
